At a fraction of the price of a normal GPS systems, this GPS receiver will transform your PSP into a navigation device. Knowledge of custom firmware and homebrew is necessary to get this device to function properly outside of Japan.
This GPS receiver will not work out of the box when used outside of Japan. As mentioned before, knowledge of custom firmware and homebrew is needed.
GPS doesn't require a connection to the internet, a phone line, a cell phone, or anything of that nature. Just like you can tune your car's radio to your favorite radio station without connecting to the internet, your GPS receiver only needs GPS signals to operate properly.
The GPS receiver simply plugs into the USB port on top of your PSP, takes about 40 seconds to realize where it is, then renews its position every second thereafter. The 5 meter (16 foot) accuracy means that your position will be reported, at most, 16 feet away from where you actually are.
